Why be a trustee?

I was delighted to have the opportunity to become a Trustee. The role is varied and allows me to use the skills and experience I have gained during my career in a very different way. It is a challenging role with considerable responsibility and I try hard to put myself ‘in the shoes’ of our members when assessing the impact of the decisions that need to be made. I joined the board in February 2017 and have really enjoyed it so far.

My priorities

I feel that people often don't engage with pension planning until it is too late. It all seems like a long way off until it isn't! This applies to both DB and DC members, particularly because there seem to be endless changes to tax and other rules around pensions. Ways to improve member understanding and engagement are key priorities for me.
